[quote user="Romy the Cat"]Well, it might sound as a heresy to you, but I personally
consider the impedance curve is a bit irrelevant in this application. In this application
you need to care only about only 2 things: if you have enough power in yo...

There are still room modes to contend with the first starting at about 41Hz.Here is an impedance plot of the left Bass Cannon as seen by the amplifier, so including speaker cable. As you can see I managed to get Fs down to about 44Hz and it turns out ...

Finally, it has happened. Sound. Two weeks ago I had a couple of mates help me carry up and install the first DSET on its pedestal on the horn stack. It was quite a bit of effort and three were definitely required for the heavy but delicate operat...

So, my two problems have been fixed, I think.First was the issue with the 6e6p for the HF Channel not being able to draw enough current. I checked the bias and it was fine and the potentiometer allowed plenty of adjustment so I changed nothing in t...

I was just trawling over at diyaudio.com (like I do) and a recently updated thread caught my eye and had these tidbits from Josh the Visitor regarding critique of Macondo/Melquiades and Romy's stated viewpoints of GSC:[QUOTE]Well. I disagree that dig...

So, the first DSET is still downstairs on the electronics bench and I am back to work for a while, but not too hard and not for too long (I hope). I've added all the filters and checked and tested and changed some more things and decided that it was...

Hi briefremarks,I have the same dac and front end as you. The Phasure stuff is as good as digital gets in my opinion and I am yet to hear better in my part of the world. The Orelos would be interesting to hear...for me at least. There is a pair in...

Hi Romy,I've been reading the 6e6p-dr datasheet and it seems as though pin 8 (a shield) is recommended to be tied to a lower negative voltage than the tube cathode. Have you bothered or experimented with this? This is no problem in the DHT Channel ...

Congratulations on the build! anthony wrote: Yours uses all toroids, or mostly so, which are more efficient than the EI that I use.
Why have you chosen EI vs toroids? The latter emit less.
Cheers,

I woke up this morning to have the brightest thought that my DHT issues are probably caused by how I have wired up the filament transformers. When I ordered all the transformers for this project I gave Lucas of Black Art Automation the design brief ...

[quote user="Paul S"]Anthony, congratulations on getting your project to this point! I mention without referring back to your schematics, I think you will be glad to have test points, along with variable resistors (trim pots) to re-set operating poi...

That is a lot of output at 6Hz. I hope the Yammies have DC speaker protection because I'd hate a fault in the chain to unleash a heap of DC on those IB's...it may cause a a significant tremor at castle Romy....

Although difficult to tell from the photos, they look pretty close to being time aligned too Romy, by the time you allow for the height of the baskets in the ceiling and their overall height above the horn stack relative to your sitting position. ...
